Short Story #28: Trapped in the Cookie Jar

Floating Eco-Cities Short Story

28 Trapped In The Cookie Jar short story mcclure

Short Story Writer’s Journal: (May contain spoilers)

This one emerged from a story idea I had a few years ago about a pair of floating eco-cities somewhere in the equatorial Pacific region (the assumption being that typhoons would be unlikely).

However, like many short stories in this challenge, the original premise morphed into a paradise turned chaotic, probably dystopian. I say, probably, because not much can be explored and uncovered in just 2400 words. In fact, the theme of the story hints more at how much trust humans could ever safely assign to systems (like smart buildings) once the proverbial sh#t hits the fan.

Onward!
